Thanks and kudos to all at DIYNOT electrics.

I was switching over a 3 gang switch when err "the dog ate me homework!" etc Cue constant tripping of the RCB when trying to reconnect. Browsed the forums here and figured I had the unmarked switched live problem and fixed in half an hour

Very impressed by these forums. I've got another project to start and need a bit of advice.

I have an exterior light in the fascia board outside the front door. Switch is internal. I want to change this to Halogen downlighters along the fascia. I assume the downlighters will come with a transformer- where would I site this? Is it OK within the void of the fascia?

Cheers

Atomic, The Tx's for the Halogens can be placed in the fascia void, however I would urge you to remeber that the downlights you use must be rated for EXTERNAL use, not simply water proof for a bathroom.

never assume anything.

230v halogens dont require a transformer

but the answer to your question is maybe.

it depends on ventilation and or water ingress to the void, make of transformer (unless mains halogens)

you could even put the transformwe in a box if required.

it really depends on what lights you get

Some, like proseal, are rated IP65, and suitable for both soffits and bathroom use.

Jim, thought it was the same? There is potential for spray in bathroom, is this not the same as rain?

Downlighters in a fascia board will shine across and light up your neighbour's house - they won't thank you for that...
