Own lawyers have reportedly said that a100 bn euro (£85 bn) Brexit divorce bill would be
"legally impossible" to enforce

leaked (?) minutes of internal deliberations that were passed to the Brexit negoiating team in Brussels suggest that member states have been warned against pursuing the U.K for payment ??

I feel that the number has been plucked from the air, as have the several other numbers that have been bandied about, knowing that folk like HimmDIY and his like (No Link provided) will use it to try and scare the UK people into negotiating in a far more EU friendly way... Folk like HimmDIY and JohnD are the EU's useful fools willing to sell their country down the river... In days gone by they may have been shot, hanged or hanged, drawn and quatered for being very irritating against their country (No Telegraph link available)

We've already established that the numbers printed in the anti-European dUK papers, and circulated by such as transam, are made up, as are the claims that these are demands made by the EU.

Contrary to the Quitters' propaganda, the EU has not demanded a figure, and it has not increased a demanded figure.

It's a ploy to enrage the anti-Europeans, and to soften them up for when May or her replacement tries to blame the EU for problems in negotiating a settlement.

You'll notice that anti-EU transam spreads his silly rumour with no reference or evidence. I expect he heard it from one of Banner's Russian web-bots.

Any monies claimed to be due may be paid purely as a voluntary payment by the UK in order to secure agreement in other issues to be settled.

If no-one can see that then they are complete fools.

Obviously the EU can't force payment.

Any monies claimed to be due...
claimed, so far, by the Mail, the Express, and the Torygraph.

If and when we see an actual claim by the EU, we will have a basis for a sensible discussion.

For now, not.

Why does anyone need to post a reference here on a DIY website? Surly this section is for a little light banter not for you and HimmDIY to demand references for everything said.. Despite when you guys offer references they are links to media that you happen to agree with but offer no proof at all...The media offer opinions not hard data and some of the sites used offer no proof of being independant and even if they did, we could then question the validity of the proof... Folk here come here for a giggle not to be dictated to by the internet Gestapo

I gather from his pleas that icybrand has not managed to get access to the coveted forum he so desperately wants.

So he occupies himself by republishing made-up stories recycled from his special interest websites.

On some of his previous names, he has admitted posting untrue stories for the thrill it gives him.

It's not just those papers - both camps are making the claim to support their respective arguments. But yes, at the moment the amount is pure speculation.

There are signals from the EU (and a presumption from the UK government) that some sort of claim for current liabilities would be due.

But like everything, it is up for negotiation.

Surly the Combustion Chamber does state that it is open to ALL RGIs and that for whatever reason, to deny my access contravenes DIY not's statement...Does this mean that they are liars?

Tell me, which previous posters do you think I am?

I have no doubt that there will be claims and counter claims... In the end, I guess that the figure will be zero. It is all noise and bluster, rather like the run up to a boxing match..

I'm sure it will come back to you if you think hard enough.
