It might happen through another process. The Attorney General could request a reduced sentence in return for Maxwell's testimony against some of those people the MAGA's really despise. Trump could then claim he has no involvement.

The only thing I can imagine is that he is going to try to get the DOJ to bring prosecutions against some of the people that the base really hate, such as Bill Clinton, using Maxwell as a star witness. It doesn't really matter if they ever go ahead. Just announcing it will buy him time. Simliar to his calls to prosecute Obama for treason.

The base hate those they see protecting the world conspiracy, which includes, they believe, prominent re publicans.

You can’t pardon a crime for which you’ve not been convicted and don’t admit to. It’s inconceivable that she will do that

Do you remember the story. It was hilarious. Trump got confused and announced that two states were threatened by a hurricane, even though they weren't actually in its path, causing mass panic. But he refused to admit his mistake So, he held a press conference where he showed a copy of the official hurricane map which he had altered with a black felt tip to try and prove he had been right all along.

He says "there's no way" that's possible.
