Im not suggesting its possible to create equalityRegardless of the socioeconomic model, there are and always have been winners and losers. Tis the way of the world.
Yes it would be great to live in a world where everyone is treated equally, with no poverty, no wars etc.
Ain't going to happen.
I am just saying the the UK has poor living standard compared to equivalent Western economies because of wealth inequality AND that is has got very bad over the last 40 years where weve have neo liberal governments
1) wealth inequality has risen massively in UK over the last 40 years
there are now more and more losers
2) UK has significantly higher wealth inequality than many other Western economies
3) the wealthy have increase their ownership of assets significantly over the last 4 decades and ordinary citizens have less and less assets
Compared to other developed countries the UK has a very unequal distribution of income, with a Gini coefficient of 0.351. The UK has one of the highest levels of income inequality in Europe, although it is less unequal than the United States.
The Scale of Economic Inequality in the UK - Equality Trust
The UK has very high inequality of income compared to other developed countries. The UK's wealth inequality is much more severe than income inequality.

Since the mid 1990s the incomes of the top 0.1 percent have grown almost 4 times faster thanthe incomes of the bottom 90 percent of the population.
Britain and the US are poor societies with some very rich people
Great thread on the UK’s toxic combination of low growth and high inequality - it’s a disaster for middle and low income Britain
NEW: income inequality in US & UK is so wide that while the richest are very well off, the poorest have a worse standard of living than the poorest in countries like Slovenia https://ft.com/content/ef265420-45e8-497b-b308-c951baa68945…Essentially, US & UK are poor societies with some very rich people.
