Hi all, trying to install Honeywell T4 thermostat to replace my old dial type.
there are 4 wires and i believe they are .....

Red - permanent live
yellow - switched live
blue - neutral
green/yellow - earth

I realise I don't need neutral and earth and will isolate them.
But the switched live is still showing 50-60 volts when the old thermostat is turned to low and and 240 volts when switched to high. Is it normal for some volts to still be present in the switched live when it is effectively off ?

Thanks, Gavin.

Voltage induced into parallel cables. If you were to pull it to earth, no current should flow - it's "floating"

Hi Nozzle, thanks for your reply:) are you saying the voltage is being picked up by the multimeter because the live and switched live run next to each other in the cabling ?
Forgive my ignorance

I should add that I'm testing with a multimeter with black clamped to the earth wire and red for poking !

Hi picasso, To be fair I have noooo idea !o_O but I have gone ahead and wired it up as per instructions with just red and yellow wires and it all seems to be working perfectly, taking over control of the heating from the programmable timer controls in the airing cupboard when switched to permanent on. Which is what I wanted :D
Thanks for posting :)
