I have an (exposed) Bristan Artisan thermostatic shower, and I'm tired of replacing the cartridge, at about £50 a time, every couple of years or so. (I'm in Leeds, which doesn't have hard water, or suffer from kettle-furring etc.) I'm wondering if replacing the whole thing with a different make might prove to be a more lasting solution. Any advice or recommendations?

Suppose it depends on why you are having to replace it?

Bristan are usually OK when it comes to their showers. Not the best IME but not the worst either.
