I cant get a TRV for the radiator in my bedroom. Bottom line is the old one is knackered & leaks so needs replacing. Cant believe what a hassle this is turning out to be.

(this post could do with somepics but I'm on the road at the moment...)

I went to a plumber & he sold me a valve that came with a tail that he said would join the valve to the radiator. Trouble is, it's way off. On the inlet into the rad i.e. the bit the valve is supposed to join to is a nut with a 1 inch thread (this nut is integral to the radiator - its held in place by a flange on the radiator inlet pipe) and this nut screws on to the valve or the tail. Trouble is, the diameter of the tail is only half that size. Been to 2 plumbers merchants now & they say nobody makes anything like that.

I can't believe this is a particularly uncommon set up - looks just like a bog standard radiator to me.

Anyone got any suggestions other than getting a new radiator?
