The label of "terrorist" is a politically inspired label to demonise the "enemy" and jusitfy killing them.

It is not highly debated it is a FACT that the IRA are a Proscribed Terrorist Group !!

In case you're not aware the IRA were at war with the British, so the British labeled the IRA as terrorists to justify using the army and killing or imprisoning them without trial.
Britain could not "declare war" on them because that would recognise them as freedom fighters.
