Without looking at your project it very difficult to know on this forum as for: is it a low bearing walls, single or double walls, bungalow, house, flat and what weight you're supporting above. The building regulation require that you must have as least 150mm each side of the opening. To help you this website can calulate the size you'll need online. www.lintels.co.uk

THE HOUSE IS A 3 BED SEMI, THE WALL IS A DOUBLE THICKNESS
LOADBEARING WALL, IT GOES UP TO THE LOFT FLOOR AND IS THE DIVIDING WALL FOR 2 BEDROOMS. IT IS SOLID ALL THE WAY UP.
I WANT TO MAKE AN OPENING IN THE WALL DOWNSTAIRS TO JOIN THE LOUNGE TO THE DINING ROOM.

CAN ANYBOBY HELP !!
