We had two new radiators installed in our kitchen. The plumber looks to have sealed around the pipping with some decorators caulk (?). It looks a mess as you can see from attached pictures. Grateful for best solution to tidy this up?
scrape it out and use filler and a broad metal knife. Use the surrounding flat wall to support the knife so you can hold it (fairly) flat.
It is Ok to leave a quarter-inch or so gap round the pipe to reduce cracking from expansion movement. Caulk is somewhat flexible, though it seems to shrink and harden with age. White silicone is more flexible but AFAICT does not hold paint.
You can get round plastic pipe collars to hide the small gap.
