Tightening Drayton 8/10mm TRV - Strange Olives?

I'm fitting a couple of new TRVs to my 8mm microbore system. The Drayton RAS TRVS have strange large grooved olives that sit right on the end of the pipe.

Is there a different method of assembling and tightening these. A friend with a little knowledge (a dangerous thing!) reckons the olive nuts snap or give a bit when they are correctly tightened. Or do I just treat them like normal olives?

The instructions say nothing about fitting olives and nuts.

Your friend is correct, the valves are supplied with a reducing set. If these are the solid one's (not two part) you'll feel them go loose, then tighten approx 1/4 turn more.

Woodbine, these two part reducer sets are rubbish, go to a good Plumbers mercahnts & get the three part ones.
