The area that I am tiling is inside the bathroom, and then it will transition to carpet as we come out of the door.

My tile is around 10mm thick, and will be using a 10mm notched trowel. I know that once you push the tile down it will compress the adhesive and overall thickness will be slightly lower.

My carpet underlay will be 11mm and the pile thickness is 17mm, obviously even combined both of them are compressable so overall thickness will also be lower.

I just want to know if I need a specific type/size of Tile-to-carpet transition strip for this? Because I don't really like the look of the plates which you just put on top and then screw down, I notice those always seem to come loose. I'd rather something more secure and flush fitting.

Any recommendations/advice would be much appreciated :)

No, most come with a Z section that you can squash to accommodate.
