I've got these tiles in my kitchen which I'd like to remove, but they seem to be completely invincible against the tools I have. Chisels do virtually nothing (with a decent amount of effort I managed to chip off the corner of one tile in the first picture), drill does nothing, crowbar can't get in behind them because I can't make a dent in the stuff they're stuck to the wall with.

I'm thinking of buying an angle grinder or a concrete saw which I can use to cut a criss-cross into the tiles, then lever them off with the crowbar. Two questions:

1. Is this likely to work?

2. If so, can anyone recommend a good angle grinder or concrete saw for the job?

SDS (rotation stop) with an angled tile remover will take a lot of stuff off - less airborne dust than a grinder, too.

By hand: electrician's bolster chisel driven by a club hammer. A lot more work, but gets there eventually
