I was tilling a kitchen and the kitchen sockets tripped. I unscrewed all the sockets to see if anything had come lose. It turned out one socket had wet tile adhesive between the live in and live out. I cleaned it off and it stopped tripping. Can anyone explain why this caused it to trip. Thanks

What do you mean by live out on a socket?

A small current travelling through moisture from L to N or E would cause an RCD to trip. That's what they detect.

I think the circuit has a live in and live out to the next socket? Maybe it was traveling from live to the earth. Then thanks
