Hello,

Should I remove the wall paper before tiling?

The hallway wall leading into the living room is white and constantly getting hit with scratching and markings from everyday in and out of the house.

I had the idea of tiling that small section, probably requiring six large tiles. Do I need to remove the wall paper, it's pretty sturdy stuff as the wall has had a good few layers of paint.

I'm with the idea that I may need to remove the paper to use the grouting to set the tiles to the wall, though concious that this would be a not an easy job as I thought!

I would appreciate any feedback, suggestion or advice of the problem!

With thanks

hi, if it keeps getting hit, and you want to do something with the walls. why not clad them, that way you wont need to take the paper off.

but if you want to tile, you must take the paper off, other wise you wont get a good key on the surface.
