Just removed some old tiles ready for placing new ones.

Lots of the old 'finishing?' plaster has come off with them, leaving dusty, uneven (small craters) plaster behind.

Can I re-tile straight over the rough plaster or do i need to skin it first or use some type of bonder so the new tiles will stick ok?

I tiled my old kitchen in my old house, there were no tiles just holes where the old owner had removed the old tiles. All i did was paint a mix of PVA onto the walls where i was tiling let it dry for a couple of days and re-tiled and it was fine.
