How much more difficult does it make to tile over an underfloor heating mat?

not much difference at all mate, i normally use a plastic float effect tool for applying the adhesive, you just got to be careful you dont cut through the elements of your mate

lay your mat, check it with a multimeter.
then use a 2part slc over it,use a plastic trowel to smooth over(as jc said dont nik the elememts).
check again with m/meter.
addy then tiles.
if you use a 2part slc,and in the future you need to lift a tile, then you wont damage the ufh.
there are waterbased slc out there, but i havent used them onto ufh.i always use a latex based one..stuck in my ways i guess.. ;)
