Hi all,

Is it possible to put new tiles over my old tiles that are in my shower, I really dont want to remove the old tiles as they are stuck onto plasterboard and trying to remove them would result in damaging the plastboard itself, then I would have to replace all the plasterboard around the shower etc and I dont want to have to mess around with electrics or plumbing as i have no idea about them so it would just be easier if I could apply new tiles over the exsiting ones, is it possible?

Thanks in advance

Alan :D

Yes, I am sure you can tile over existing tiles providing they are well fixed. Just give them a really good clean to make sure the adhesive will stick. The only areas to be careful of are where the edges of the tiles can be seen - you will obviusly see 2 thicknessess instead of 1 - you should be able to get around this with a beading or careful use of grout.

Have you thought about using plastic wall panelling for shower. Its the best thing I've ever done, which puts an end to blackened groutlines, easy to wipe & clean.I've got 3 white moulded panels for 3 sides which is then cut down to size and fix over the existing tiles onto the shower tray + sealant on the bottom. They approx £40 a sheet. No more re-grouting etc
