Hi
My front door is made of larch and is original so is about 90 years old. There are quite large gaps at the timber joints abut 2mm. I am planning to restore the door and paint it.

I presume normal wood filler is cosmetic? Is there anything I can put into the joints that will actually provide strength aswell as acting as a filler?

Thanks

Doesn't help that most of the mortice and tenon joint has been chopped out to fit the lock
