I'm sticking a playhouse on the top of my shed. What should I use for the roof?

I'd like it to be visually clear that the playhouse is just a modest playhouse for the kids - not a two-storey shed or other permanent building.

I'll probably use feather edge on the sides of the playhouse, but I would rather not use felt or rubber on the roof because then it would just look like a little shed on top of a bigger shed :(. I also don't want to make it too fancy (or costly) so would probably try to avoid cedar shingles or similar.

I'd like it to provide shelter from the rain so that the kids can leave stuff in the playhouse without it getting ruined.

What sort of simple light weight, cost effective timber construction would you suggest for the roof? Tongue and groove?

I guess this is the kind of image I've got in mind for the roof (Ignore the rest - I'm not building monkey bars, slides, swings or the rest!):
