Hello,

Just a quick question - we have had recently new double glazed timber sashes installed and it appears to me that most of the sash box frame is visible from the outside. The box is 10mm wide and in some windows you can see 8-9cm of it when looking from the outside. Is this correctly installed or should we be concerned? When looking from inside there is a space of at least an inch between the bricks and the box frame (from each side - top, bottom, left and right) that is filled with expanding foam. Also the timber sill actually sits on the foam NOT on the concrete sill on the outside.... hope it all makes sense.

The new windows replaced the old sashes so the space for the new boxes was there (the old boxes had the same width).

Any help / advise on this matter greatly appreciated!

Thanks a lot

They may of pulled the frames in slightly so the frames end up inline with the plaster. The architraves will then sit flush and will be a nice finish. There may of been a cement fillet around the existing frames that come out with the old frames, the gaps may look bad but once the fillets back on it'll look fine.
