Timber sticky after wet rot wood hardener

Hi

I applied "R" wet rot wood hardener yesterday on a rotted area generously, BUT this morning the surface area is sticky to the touch. Shall I carry in with filler/decorating or else?

It's a garage door so outdoors and had rain yesterday.

The timber is hard, One half is dry to the touch now, the other half bit sticky but more the old paint is sticky rather that the bare wood.

I did shake the can before use.

I think should be OK, says on can to scrub with wire brush to get rid of excess hardener.
