time to become tacky for Karndean pressure sensitive adhesive?

I've spread out the glue, waited 15 mins expecting it to become tacky...........it didn't, so I gave it another 15, still not tacky but I've laid the Karndean over it anyway.

The floor is ply over chipboard, the room is heated (prob. 70degrees) The glue batch was made 6 months ago. I had expected the glue to go clear and tacky, the glue was applied with a 4" roller and the area is only a downstairs loo. Is there a problem?

You are meant to put in down with a A2 notch towel. You then can roll Adhesive flat with a roller.
Sounds like you have put the adhesive down to thick.

If the ply is absorbent it'll likely be fine as the glue can dry by absorption into the ply.

My substrate is egger deck weather resistant floor board, so it's chipboard coated with some kind of grey plastic. I've been using a 4mm notch trowel on a shallow angle (like, 20 degrees or less) for my F46 then running over it with a knackered(hardened) paint roller to flatten the lines out/prevent the adhesive showing through. With a fan heater on low it takes about 30 mins to turn clear (from white) and I really do need to wait for it to turn cos it'll never turn tacky sandwiched between two sheets of plastic!

Good thing is it has a really long open time, and the less dusty/less humid the house is the longer it lasts.. i spread some out on friday, but only got to laying the flooring on it on sunday and it was still tacky enough.. Have some patience (or use a fan heater)!

ps; airflow is more important for drying stuff than temperature is. It also helps that the surrounding air is relatively dry - e.g if you've replastered the day before, and shut the door with a heater on, then you've got a really warm, humid room cos the plaster is drying too.. it'll take a long time for F46 to dry in such conditions. Ventilate well with warm dry air (but dont dry the place out too fast as this can cause some finishes to crack)

Thanks lads, I had watched a few Youtube videos to get an idea, based on this, I used my plastering trowel to spread (epic fail) then went back over the area with a 4inch roller to even out.

I tried to get that A2 spreader on thee way home tonight but the shop was shut, so I just rolled out the glue sparingly and hey presto 20 mins later it's gone clear n all is good!!
