Timer activated but rads cold

My problem is infuriating as it is random rather than permanent. Often the "acl Lifestyle" timer has activated (light is on) but to get the heating going I have to jiggle the thermostat control. This can happen in the morning when only the heating is on timer or in the evening when both water and heating are on timer. In the latter case, the boiler is heating the water but the rads will be cold until I twiddle the thermostat. Weird.
Any suggestions? Many thanks. Brian
