I have done this before but I can't remember the answer as my memory is poor. Please can someone remind me here?
I have changed the extractor fan that has a timer at a property before with one that does not have a timer. There is a permament live and switched-live wire for the old fan but the new one doesn't need the permanent live wire.
I have read on google just now that you can terminte the permanent live wire in a block and forget about it and just use the switched live wire feed to the extractor fan.
Why do I have a faint recollection that this doesn't work? That you still need the permanent live wire connected somewhere on the fan? I have a faint recollection of putting both live wires into the live terminal of the new fan. Is this correct or am I remembering incorrectly?
The reason I asking is that I have a similar set up for an external flood light with PIR and I want to disable the PIR by disconnecting the permanent live wire and leaving the switched live wire connected as the PIR unit (which is wired separately) has become faulty.
