Timer/Thermostat Question

Hello,

I have a Siemens RWB27 timer and a Digistat +2 RF.
The Siemens enables me to control on and offs on a daily/ weekend basis and the Digistat allows me only to choose temperatures on a 7 day basis i.e. no allowances for weekend heating.

Can someone shed some light as to whether the Siemens unit or the Thermostat is in charge here? It seems to me that irrelevant of the timings on the Siemens timer the thermostat wins out and turns the heating on.

Is this the way it should work?

Depends whether they've been connected in parallel or in series.
