toilet cistern

I have got a cistern with a push button flush,the problem is that when the toilet is flushed the cistern fills up and at the end of the filling process a loud thump is heard thro the pipework,what can I do to cure this.

Try adjusting your float or changing washer. It sounds like your float is cutting incoming water off rather abruptly.
May need a new float valve.
Take off cistern lid and listen to where the noise is coming from.
