toilet cistern

Hi,

Recently my toilet cistern fails to fill now and again after a flush unless I do 1 of the following -

Turn on the cold tap in the bathroom briefly

or

Turn on the cold tap in the kitchen briefly

or

Take the lid off the cistern and slightly nudge the fill valve.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

Valve is sticking slightly. Easiest might be to replace with a new one. How old is it and what type?

Its about a year and a bit old and it came as part of a wickes take away toilet. It has a push button with long/short flush options.

A year is too short. If I were you I'd complain to Wickes straight away; I would expect complete replacement of the faulty valve.
