My new bathroom has a tanked floor as I had a walk in shower fitted. The toilet was also fitted, however the fitting as seen in the picture) just doesn't look right to me, particularly as the floor is supposed to be sealed. I have pointed this out to the person who did the work and getting no-where fast. He clearly has no intention of doing anything about it.

Another builder inspected it and said that the wrong unit had been installed for where the pipework was and that it had been a bodge fix and needs to be completely redone with the right unit.It is a suspended floor and the pipework runs underneath.

Should I be continuing down the line of not accepting the work? Please excuse my ignorance here, as I have no knowledge about these sort of things and I know going down this path with the person who fitted it will be very difficult, so I need to be certain of facts to challenge him, but I don't know where to get the information.

I'm sure your plumber will just silicone seal the joint, which will seal it for now.

But how long will it last?......................get it replaced.

no it's not right, he has broken the plastic clip on top on the fitting in the floor this in turn seals the rubber onto the piece of soil pipe that the multiquik goes into, i know exactly why he has done it & that is so your cistern goes back to the wall as the drain isn't close enough to the wall, if the pan had been fitted to the drain correctly you would have a gap behind the cistern which would need some kind of boxing, but yes it is a bodge & the clip on bit needs replacing, if you can't move the drain then the cistern will have to be boxed off of the wall, not going to look nice or be very waterproof in a wet room.

plus why has the pan been fitted before the floor has been tiled ?

It's not worth bothering about. Did your second builder tell you what the 'right' unit was? It doesn't need redoing. When it's tiled you'll never see that broken bit. Stop whining.

it's not about seeing the broken bit the drain is now not sealed properly so it could leak or let smells back up from the drain.

did your cd not tell you that

It's got a load of rubber fins on - my CD told me that.

Pull the floor up then.

very true if i was talking about the multiquik/pan connector but i'm not i'm talking about the soil fitting in the floor that the above is pushed into

plus you don't need to pull the floor up it's just the top of the fitting that needs replacing

It's not going to leak. FFS it'll get filled in.

yet another post that proves you know nothing about anything on this section of the forum, i have yet to see one post where you have given any "advice" that even comes close to the truth, you aren't a plumber, you aren't a RGI, in fact you aren't even a very good diyer if some of your answers are anything to go by

Don't be silly. When tiled that section will be under the tile grout.

You are a short course cowboy - live with it.

Please don't feed the Troll.

A troll with over 600 thanks? Yeah sure mate. He's wrong and he knows it. Live in the real world eh?

leaving a incorrectly or non sealed fitting under a tiled floor & he calls me a cowboy PMSL

So what do you suggest he do then?

Come on - give us a laugh.

BTW - how is life in La-la land?

i did think i'd already said, the clip on top of the fitting needs replacing & the pan fitting correctly, or is that too simple for a super intelligent boy in a bubble like you ?
