i have one of the more modern type toilets, with the plastic float and no ballcock, and extra water runs out into the bowl after the cistern has refilled following a flush. i am told it is probably the valve with the white pinhead type thing in it which needs replacing, although the one already in looks ok. i could also replace the whole plastic unit for around £14, which is only about twice as much as replacing just the valve. what are the odds on it needing a unit replacement rather than just the valve, as i obviously don't need to buy the one then find i need the other.
