g`day to you all
We got a new Toilet ,got it out packageing and gave it once over ,looked ok. ( 6 week ago now .)
Went to fit Toilet today and waste hole at back is oval ,104mm horizontal 93 mm vertical. To be fair i didn`t think to look at it in detail .
rang company and they said " they are somtimes out of round " , they are ring back tomorrow.
I`m not happy with this waste hole at all.

i`m assuming all you pro`s out there would chuck it back at them??
what is considered to be ok for ovallity?

KN

I wouldn't be happy either, but they can be a bit out and still seal.
Some pan connectors are better than others. Polypipe ones have a particularly flexible collar. Ugly black though! I wouldn't use a Multiquick on that. McAlpine maybe.

Nope - I'd fit an MKS2, and it wouldn't leak.

I agree that it's out of spec, but the minimum perimeter that an MKS2 will cope with is about 305mm, and since the perimeter of an oval pan spigot measuring 93x104 is likely to be more than that, I believe it would seal.

This isn't just fanciful, I had an oval one just the other day that was 93mm on the short side, and the MKS2 did the job perfectly.

The Polypipe seal is good for really small spigots, but I have the fewest problems with Multikwiks. And although I wouldn't use any waste trap other than McAlpine, their pan connectors aren't so much cop. I carry all three brands though, 'cos you can never tell which is going work best when space is tight.

I bow to your greater knowledge. I've never measured a circumference - you'd be "in" by 4.4 mm if it's an ellipse. And as I say I haven't used a MQ for years. Still got a bin liner full of them though. They do look better, so if I stray from the path of boilers I might try again.

since it seems the whole toilet pan is compressed down ( over all height 25 mm or inch to you old timers ) the usual 90° pan connector won`t make good fit as moulded collar interfers with back of toilet.

i appreciate all your replies

i don't really want to fit it and find it leaks in a month or 2 , so i`ll wait for company to ring back and hope to get an exchange.

Qué? :?

Are you refering to the outlet on the back of the pan? I.E. It's angled down by a few degrees? Otherwise.. in the words of softus: Que??

Or, could it be that the pan spigot is very short? I see these occasionally, and have indeed sent them back, when the spigot is so short you don't have a hope of getting a connector to stay on it.

spot on softus, too short a spigot could do with an extra inch or 2 , ( there is a joke in there too ! )
