So I'm after a new van ( or car ) since my beloved escort van failed it's MOT to the tune of £500+ in repair bills..

on autotrader I found a Merc Vito 108D, R reg, 118,000 miles, 1 owner in good nick for £950...
this sounds way too good to be true to me.. what's the going rate for an R reg Merc Vito these days?

Take a look on van trader or piston heads, plenty there to compare to, although people i know who are in the know told me to steer clear of the vitos when i was in the market once

My vito was a good un. My younger brothers had several, all good.
At least it's not a CDI the injectors can be trouble BIG TIME

someone in work was talking about an astra van "R" reg for sale for about £1100

£1000 will get you a good Dispatch, Scudo, Expert 1.9D turbo or not.
Pas good ride and load capacity not too big for parking in meter bays.

Parts v cheap and plenty on the market.

I have heard horror stories about Vitos from rust to gearbox issues esp.

Good luck
Pete

the vito of that age has a good engine and box, if servied properly, the only problem with it would be how much body work is left to hold the van together, it is certainly worth a look i would say.

rust buckets are they? ok I'll stick with my escorts then..
the only reason I thought about a vito is that the drivers position looks very roomy and I'm a big lad with long legs.. so anything with a center console is uncomfy..

ask a van dealer. or go to a local newsagent and buy a van buyers guide.
