My joiner has just fitted new worktops and sink, leaving me (clueless) to re-fit the existing taps.

I can't work out how to tighten the nut that secures the washer securing the monobloc into position in it's hole.

There's no space for a spanner, and a socket won't work because the threaded bar is far too long.

Is there a special tool for this job?

Many thanks.

Try a metal spacer tube to effectively reduce the length of the threaded section. this will allow you to get a box spanner on it.

A piece of small bore c/h pipe might do it.

Yes there are a special set of box spanners, for want of a better description, that are used to tighten this.

Plumb Center sell them, so no doubt other merchants do as well.

Following your good advice I did a google search on monobloc box spanners and have identified the tool I need.

Thanks.
