toolstation taps leaking from spout.

Toolstation plumbing bits seem quite poor quality. Got a popup waste and it jams in the down position. Incredibly difficult to remove!

Most of the tool station taps are just Deva taps with tool station stickers on the box, as said above, loosen grub screw, remove spout/neck, grease with silicone grease and re-fit, tighten grub screw, problem solved.

No, did not remove spout and grease! This may sound silly, but is silicone grease and silicone sealant the same thing? Could i not just remove the spout and put on ptfe tape, would this solve the problem?
