I have a top flush toilet with a bottom fed which is about 5 years old. The water constantly trickles into the pan then every so often the water fills up for about 3 seconds then shuts off.
Will the problem be in the inlet valve or the siphon area?

Could be either.

Have you got an isolating valve on the inlet?

If so, try turning off to see if the trickle continues, if it does then its your siphon thats passing.

thank you for your reply. unfortunately we do not have an isolating valve on this WC but that will be rectified today so that we don't hear this toilet filling up throughout the night!
