Totally Unnecessary Cover Versions

You're all wrong - Eric Clapton's version is best!

I like listening to Sounds of the 60s on Radio 2 Saturday mornings and I am often surprised to find that songs which I had previously associated with other later groups were in fact covers of older songs. I guess today's generation will think the same of 'their' favourites.

I think it's down to a combination of age, and genre you like.

As the GnR version was the first one I heard, and it's more in keeping with my musical preferences that's the one I like best.

I think Clapton's version of Knockin' on heavens door was the best.
I also prefer Hendrix' version of All Along the Watchtower and even the Hollies cover of Blowing in the Wind to the originals.

And of course, Led Zeppelin's cover of Memphis Minnie's When the Levee Breaks is slightly better known and a whole lot louder than the original:cool:

However Judas Preist's cover of The Green Manalishi should have seen them exiled from the country.
