I've been looking around for suppliers who can supply cheap industrial looking glass clamps for a toughened (tempered) glass fence. The web is full of very smart stylish providers who will help design an urban industrial garden, but I'm not sure where to buy the parts.

At the other end of the spectrum I was hoping to find the companies that build bus shelters(!) - has anyone tried something similar and managed to keep costs down?

I've talked to a few glaziers who will custom cut and toughen glass, but I had thought this would be available as a stock item if we didn't want any sort of special finish. Would be 10m perimiter x 60-80cm height.

I found a thread from 2007 - the chap didn't have any luck... just wondering if anyone has tried more recently!

You cannot drill glass once toughened, hence they do it after the order generally.

I've used brundle for this kind of thing before now:

Yes your site does have good prices, though you need to be looking at the external ones not internal and also add VAT which my link included. I do get a reasonable trade discount as well so not much in it in the end and I have used the company so know what their service is like rather than just finding one off the net.

They are also able to do the specialist drilling required for some of these fittings such as 35mm countersunk holes for flush standoffs which not all glaziers will be able to get done, like the ones on this table I made.

Just to close out this thread, I prevaricated for a while then got an excellent deal from NIM Ltd. I have no connection with the company, but Lesley Mason at the company was exceedingly helpful, and I got everything fitted a few months back.

If others are looking for something that's fairly well priced, these pre-fab components worked well... and were a fraction of the price of a custom build. The only restriction was one design, and having to fit around certain panel dimensions. In the end I used just the lower halves of the twin panels, which made the wall around 60cm high - just right for a windbreak.

I can post a photo if people are interested
