I have a Titan mains track saw that takes blades of thickness (not kerf) roughly 2.1 to 2.6mm. I have bought a blade of thickness 1.7mm and can't clamp it down enough.

Any reason why the track saw blades are thicker and I shouldn't shim? There seems to be a wider choice of the thinner blades now, I guess as more people move to cordless.

Thanks

Thinner blades wander more when the saw movement is constrained. Shim it and see how you get on

if it has a riving knife it may get jambed up
also because the blade is off centre to the riving knife it may try and push the saw off line
