I'm bracing myself for an obvious answer here!

What would happen to the input Watts needed for a 1600 Watt power tool which ran on 110v if you used a 240v (230) to 110v transformer?

Would it reduce to 800 watts? or double to 3200 or stay the same?

I have a 230v 900w generator but can't find a circular saw with a feeble enough wattage rating to use with it.

Thanks.

Power in Watts = V x I x powerfactor, ignoring powerfactor and losses when you transform down your V x I input is the same as your V x I output, so your current in effect slightly more than doubles (ratio of 230/110) but the power remains the same.

Yep - Power is the constant. You don't get something for nothing in this world!
