I have just built quite a large set of steps in the garden using green oak that I obtained from a sawmill.

The appearance is quite chunky and rustic (150*150 supporting posts and 40mm thick boards for landing and steps) and at the moment the oak is a lovely golden colour. I understand that because green oak still has a certain amount of moisture within it you don't have to treat it but it will eventually become a silver/grey colour.

I would like to retain the golden colour and need to know what I need to treat the oak with. I'm guessing an oil (danish, teak?) but don't know exactly.

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you.
