Dear Experts,

I have a 12l expansion vessel from Screwfix, with its mounting kit. The mounting kit consists of a bracket that fixes to the wall and a long metal strap that goes through the bracket and around the vessel, secured with a Jubilee type fastener. See: http://www.screwfix.com/p/expansion-vessel-mounting-bracket/86194

So far I have found it impossible to tighten the strap sufficiently to hold the vessel anything like securely enough. The comments on the screwfix page suggest that i'm not the only one to have problems.

I think I will probably have to abandon the supplied strap and find something else to use - but before I do that, I though I'd ask here if anyone knows a trick to get these straps to work properly. Has anyone else used one of these mounting kits?

Thanks.

That one seems to not need a strap (right?); it wouldn't have any way to attach to my vessel.

It uses securing screws instead of a strap. I'm sure there are some available that use a combination of both as well. To be honest. I have not seen a decent bracket for expansion vessels yet! They all seem pretty poor

Thanks. It looks like that one is supposed to attach on the vessel's thread. Presumably you are supposed to connect the vessel with a nut and then attach the pipe to the remaining part of the thread. I don't think my vessel has a long enough thread to do that; I have only maybe 1mm left when the pipe is connected.

I've replaced the metal strap with a couple of "luggage" type fabric straps, which are much easier to tighten. I would have preferred something with a ratchet style tightener, but I couldn't find any narrow enough to fit the bracket. I've also put a thin piece of foamy material between the vessel and the bracket. It is now much more secure than before, but I suspect much of the weight is still being supported on the pipework.

Should I ever have to do this again - unlikely! - I will choose a vessel with a better mounting option.
