Tripping ring main

Assuming the fuse is in the live - then it out to be enough. From what the OP has posted, it suggests a L to E fault, enough to trip the RCD, not enough to trip the MCB.

Which was why I suggested water, or moisture - it will gradually become more conductive, as time passes..
