Good idea that's been around along time.
Gets you out of trouble.
It can make them very temperamental and not function correct.

Being a safety device not something worth doing longterm for what they cost.

quite right! as you said gets you out of trouble. Does make me think that most thermal cut outs used to have the reset hole in the body already. was it a health and safety issue or just another way of manufacturers making more money out of the public that they started making the mouldings without the hole. Ive never had or heard of a malfunction caused by resetting a thermal cut out yet but sure there must have been.
