definitely open

If Trump tells you the sun is shining, get your umbrella.

"Certainly though, we’re not seeing what President Trump announced just yesterday - that the Strait is "completely open and ready for business and full passage".

At the same time, he also claimed Iran had already agreed to pretty much all of his demands, including giving up its stockpile of highly enriched uranium - something Iran has denied.

Trump also suggested a landmark deal with Tehran could be imminent.

It doesn’t look like it with this latest move by Iran."

Is is a good time to invest in oil stocks while prices are low?

Only if you are an insider dealer like Hegseth.

Trade on Friday, then Trump makes some statement that rocks the market, then the Rubes are locked out while the markets are closed over the weekend.

It did seem to be open temporarily until Trump declared his blockade was still in effect.
Its always been open - its just that the mad mulahs threaten to attack any ship that go's through unless they have paid a protection racquet fee.
The whole world is being held ransomed by them why cant each nations shipping be escorted flanked by navel ships and anything fired at them will be met with total destruction from sea and air

Nothing unusual about charging a fee.
After the Suez crisis when Egypt nationalised the Suez canal they started charging a fee, Tankers can pay over a 100,000 or more.

Ie. Not open

Because it wouldn't work, on a million different levels.

By escorting their ships they'd be entering the war and guess what, their ships would be being targeted not just in the narrows but anywhere in the gulf.

Escorting ships means you're also within range of missiles, mines and drones. No one wants to test their expensive destroyers against modern drone warfare and missiles have proven effective against ships for decades. The ultra short range engagement is the worst possible scenario for naval defence.

Insurance companies won't cover the civilian vessels in a warzone. No company will allow their ships through if they think there's a real chance of being attacked.

Ships are often sail under a flag of convenience, a lot of those countries don't have any effective navy.

Do you want Chinese ships to fire on the US ships blockading the Iranian ports.

It must be a good opportunity short oil stocks as the price is under 100 dollars a barrel. If not it’s still a solid long term investment.

however much we may despise trump, America is a country I would happily visit or live in. Iran, wouldn't go near the place
Not forgetting that the US is our biggest and most powerful allie that we need to stay loyal to. Love or loath Trump, he is the president of the US and so we have to suck up to him or lose our best allie.
