Ceasefire just puts off Trumpf’s decision whether to destroy their civilisation or go for a humiliating climb down. There are third party countries to consider as well. He’s bombed himself into a corner.

Alternatively. a lot could happen internally in Iran in the next 2 weeks that changes the future direction.

So .. temporary ceasefire.
Trump tacitly acknowledging that Iran could charge for vessels passing the straits (pay for reconstruction etc).
Surviving regime now has hardliners at the helm (as far as we can tell).
Proof of their economic leverage for the whole world to see.
A couple of trillion $ spent and a few thousand lives lost.
Recession likely even if peace holds.
Mad mullahs still there.
Uranium hexafluoride still there somewhere.
Capture of US policy structures by I….L now clear for all to see.

Military colleges such as Sandhurst now have a shiny new case study for “overwhelming tactical superiority yet strategic failure”, I suggest.

I think pakkkistan was more phased than Irann. Japan in Ww 2 was happy for its citizens to die kamakasi style until the A bomb made them realise they were in line. Teyran won’t shift imo as it’s leadership remains shielded.
