I'm installing 4 rads in a resturant, are there any regs regarding the use of TRV's in such premises. The owner wants 'cheap as poss price' so i dont want to put them on though i have recommended using them.
If they are required then i will tell him they have to be put on.

Am i supposed to fit TMV to the wash basins? - i know its law for healthcare places not sure about public WC's though.

im sure in any public building you must have TMV on hot taps.

I don't know of any regs which say you have to do either. Maybe there wasn't much point posting an answer then, but on that basis you might not have got one from anyone!

I spoke to local building control about this very issue as I was in similar situation. There are absolutely no local council rules or guidance about either issue in commercial premises in this area. There are no building regulations on the matter. There may be local council guidelines in your area but they are not the law.

What I did discover is that organisiations can have rules which you must follow in their institutions and their inspectors will be looking for the use of TMV's. So you say to your client, there are no building regs on the matter the local council have no opinion, I would advise the use of TMV's and TRV's but unless any of your organisations dictate you don't have to have them.

I expect the government will soon regulate this area.
