Hi people
Im fitting a wireless thermostat this weekend so need to remove the trv from the room im having the stat in.
I assume i need to change it for a basic lockshield valve?
Do i need to drain the system to do this?
Regards

At the most basic level, you just need to unscrew the head.

For a more professional finish, you should fit a lockshield which necessitates a drain down.

Unless you have a Honeywell TRV, which can just be fitted with a manual head. That's why we fit them

So if i just unscrew the head for the time being do i want the dial on maximum or minimum before i take it off?

it doesnt matter what the trv head is set to before you take it off

but it will help with removing head if you open it to max, unscrew big nut holding trv onto valve, remove head.
