Hey can someone help, I'm looking to install a 400watt security light, I have a switch on the ring main for my tumble dryer, which has a single gang socket spurred from it for the dryer to plug into, can I spur off the single gang socket to a fused spur and wire my light into that using 1.5mm flex?

Because over 150W you need to apply for planning permission these are only used in commercial premises. With the LED there is no reason to use tungsten any more and unlike the CFL the LED does not mind being switched on and off many times and also is bright on switch on.

If the dryer supply is fused or MCB protected to 20A or less than using a FCU from it to feed light would be OK. However if already an un-fused spur from a 32A supply then no.
