Possibly a silly question, but its never prevented me asking one before, so why stop now.
When we go away on holiday, I always turn off the stopcock in case of any leaks. Even more crucial now that we have a water meter.
We didn't have CH in our first house, and we've had combi boilers in all our subsequent homes prior to this one. However, we now have a vented system, and it strikes me that maybe I should check before turning off the water for a few days in case the system needs to top up, (maybe due to evaporation if the weather is hot?) and can't do so because I've turned off the water, thereby causing damage. I would of course turn off the hot water function on the timer.
Am I worrying unnecessarily?
