We live in a 1900 three storey house. We currently have two combi boilers (one radiators and downstairs tap and one bathroom shower/tap and kitchen). The shower loses pressure and the heat is erratic ( = driving us mad).

We hope to extend into the loft and install a toilet and shower there one day.

We'd like to sort out the shower and set us up for future renovations (shower and toilet in loft). We've considered installing a water tank in the loft (we have been told the old pipes very narrow and basically designed for a tank not a combi...).

How can we do this in an efficient, eco-friendly way? Sorry...a bit clueless!

Thanks

Its a bit difficult to give you any useful advice based on the limited information you have given. Only a lot of details or a visit is likely to deal with it professionally.

In London the limited pressure in most areas makes it difficult to get much flow on a third floor.

Are you looking at a cold water storage tank in the loft and a hot water cylinder downstairs? Or, perhaps a coffin CWS tank up in roof apex and HWC in attic?

A negative head shower pump might give the flexibility for a shower in the attic.

With a bathroom and a shower room, you might need at least 200 litre HWC. With poor water supply flow you might need a big CWS too.

Before anything else you need to measure the static pressure, and come back with that info.
If high enough, you need to upgrade your incoming mains.
